An Overview of SSIS

Most of us have been using Data Transformation Services (DTS) in the previous versions of SQL Server in order to manipulate or move data. With the introduction of SQL Server 2005, Microsoft has introduced a completely re-written version of DTS with a lot more new features which is now known as Integration Services. This new ETL platform is nothing but a set of utilities, applications, designers, components, and services all wrapped up into one powerful software application suite. The most attracting feature of SSIS is that the data movement and transformation is separate from the package control flow and management. There are two different engines that handle these tasks. Integration Services Data Flow engine takes care of the data movement and transformation whereas the Integration Services Run-time engine manages the package control flow. The motivation behind this article is that the SSIS API is not well documented in MSDN though you get an overall idea of what is going on. This article assumes that the reader is aware of the fundamental components of an SSIS Package.

Diwali ~ The festival of Lights

Diwali is popularly known as the festival of lights. It is an important five-day festival in Hinduism, Sikhism and Jainism, occurring between mid-October and mid-November. For most of the hindus/Indians and working class, this is the biggest festival and the day when they want to be with their families and perform the prayers together in their homes. Deepavali is an official holiday in India.

The name Diwali is itself a contraction of the word Deepavali which translates into row of lamps (in Sanskrit). Diwali involves the lighting of small clay lamps (diyas) filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. During Diwali celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends. Some Indian business communities begin the financial year on the first day of Diwali, hoping for prosperity the following year.

In Hinduism, Deepavali marks the return of Lord Rama to his kingdom of Ayodhya after defeating (the demon king) Ravana, the ruler of Lanka, in the epic Ramayana. In Jainism, Diwali marks the attainment of moksha by Mahavira in 527 BC. In Sikhism, Deepavali commemorates the return of Guru Har Gobind Ji to Amritsar after freeing 52 Hindu kings imprisoned in Fort Gwalior by Emperor Jahangir; the people lit candles and diyas to celebrate his return. This is the reason Sikhs also refer to Deepavali as Bandi Chhorh Divas, "the day of release of detainees". Deepavali is considered a national festival in India and Nepal.

The Christmas Tree

Although I'm a traditional guy, this year I decided to forgo the annual swearing-in of the Christmas-tree lights. I always think of "Catcher in the Rye," where Holden Caulfield happens upon workers cursing a Christmas tree as they struggle to load it onto a truck, so I make my light-stringing ceremony private, out of earshot of impressionable kids and wives. It is unfortunate that tree lights were not around in the frontier days, because they would have been much more humane than those terrible mutilating snare traps. Jim Bridger and the boys could have left a few strands of twinkly Christmas lights near the stream, then come back the next day and collected all the beavers, bears and settlers that had become entangled. I have planned to decorate my tee with Christmas lights setup Victoria. Some types of live trees can be kept outside in containers for a year or two. Others grow fast and must be planted in the ground sooner. Either way, this isn't a long-term solution to your Christmas decorations but what do you do the following year? Pretty soon, the tree won't fit in the house. The light-stringing job is increasingly challenging because my wife picks a bigger tree each year.
In fact, the tree was actually too tall for our living room, unless we went with the avant-garde horizontal format. I had to saw a foot off the trunk and re-install the big boy in its stand. It would have been easier, in terms of tools and man-hours, to cut a hole in the roof, but then squirrels might climb down the tree, reconfigure the electric- train tracks and haul away our Christmas nuts through the doggy door. I hate it when that happens.

Naxalism

The naxal challenge faced by different states in the country has heightened the interest in the study of naxalites and their ideology in recent years. Though a bulk of literature has been written on the history of naxalite movement, almost all of this focuses on the history of naxalite movement that happened in Bengal and Andhra Pradesh. But, most historians writing on this area has overlooked the fact that impact of Naxalbari revolt and Srikakulam revolt were far-reaching and in several parts of the country there were attempts to start a naxalite movement on similar lines. As the figures compiled by the Union Home Ministry indicates, from September 1967 till the middle of 1969, there has been a marked increase in the incidents of occupation of land, demonstrations demanding land for the landless, agitations for increase in wages of agricultural labourers etc. in different parts of the country. One can draw very important lessons from the study of history of rise [and fall] of naxalism in these areas.

Most studies so far have been content to study the history of only those regions where naxalism became popular. This paper focuses on the history of naxalite movement in a state where it failed to take root-Kerala. And it is for this very reason that a study of history of naxalite movement in Kerala is important. What is it that prevented the growth of naxalism in Kerala? The purpose of this paper is to answer this interesting question.

Another important theme this paper addresses is the causes which led to the rise of Naxalism in Kerala. This question is important because, unlike in other states, naxalism did not emerge in Kerala due to the stark class contradictions existing between the landlords and peasants; but it was initiated by a number of other factors; though the presence of contradictions gave an impetus to the movement. The project investigates these other factors which led to the rise of naxalism in Kerala. The first theme is inter-related with this second theme in that the factors which gave rise to naxalite movement also play a bearing on the death of the movement.

Director Shankar comes with an Ento-sci-fi-thriller (Entertaining science fiction) ride and that’s "Endhiran" for you under the Sun Pictures banner produced by Kalanidhi Maran. His trump card is Superstar Rajnikanth along with five assets being World's beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the heroine, AR Rahman for his expertise, Rathnavelu for cinematography, Variramuthu lyrics and one whole Ace for his team that developed the special effects. The director, called captain of the movie is really a gifted person and has hard work, he can still bring to us his 10 years dream project which is about few years advance from now itself.

Superstar (A.K.A) Chitti 2.0 has given his best. Am sure that Rajnikanth is the man who will never cease to amaze you! Your age doesn’t really matter because you will be in awe of the man! In a movie which shows signs of visual effects riding in the driver’s seat, the Superstar dominates every bit to walk away with appreciation! No favoritism here, you just can’t stop talking about him, once you come out. As a scientist, he plays his part uncharacteristically Rajni without Punch dialogues or fights but as ‘Chitti – the Robot’ you are bound to follow him or even turn an addict. Also, the graphic sequences have mesmerized the viewers. The special effects in the film are so life like that one fan challenged to run a contest to identify the graphics sequences with a million dollar prize money. ARR’s songs which are already a rage sit well on the film, adding to the entertainment quotient. Chiti chiti Robo..

Aish is amazing and truly an epitome of beauty. She forms an important part in the script and hence you will spot her throughout the movie, perhaps for the first time a heroine is receiving considerable importance in the superstar’s movie. The marvelous costumes add to her allure and she’s just majestic in few scenes. She has done a good role throughout. Overall, the Endhiran movie is open to everyone. Please watch chitti as a robot and not as a human or a 60yrs old Rajini. I dont't support the 2nd half of the movie. It was out and out mokkai for the first hour after the interval. Though Santhanam and Karunas have done a small role, the comedy sequences are good.

A Wonderful Morning it was!

It was an unforgettable journey to work yesterday. I usually go by bike to my workplace but yesterday (Why I don't know..) changed my mind and decided myself to go by bus. It was already late and I boarded 576 Volvo and manged to get a seat. Bus was about to start and to my surprise, Chips came in. Oh oh! All the seats are occupied and she was standing (pity!). I started feeling restless (felt like offering my seat to her). Oh God! My legs are paining. Soon in the next stop, the person next to me got down and yeah CHIPS occupied that seat (Ah! My goodness).
Quickly decided to start up a conversation (Oh sh**! How do I start???).

The conversation between 3 of us (Me,Chips and my mind voice) started by then..

Ch: Hey! you work in Mphasis right?
Mind Voice: Adi paavi.. unaku theriyadhaa..
Me: Yes. So How are you?
ch: Hmm.. So which project?

Me: CCC and you work for GGG right?
Ch: Oh yes. How come you know it?

Me: I knew Mr.X working in your project and so...

Ch: Am *** (With a cute smile ) and you?
MV: OMG! Sema smile da macha!!

Guys, am puzzled as to when is the next Google page rank update? On searching over the web, I found the schedule between 1st October and 7th October 2010. Till now, i haven't found any change in my PR. I knew that backlinks provide a greater part in determining the Page rank but can anyone explain to me as to how much links should a site have to get a better rank? A Good Day @ Work

Dear bloggers, it is a great start of the month. Had a very awesome morning. I say this because its the salary day as usual and this time I have got something extra. Also, they have calculated and have given me so called an interest amount. On the work front, it was a hectic day which made me sit in my chair for almost 11 hours. Oh! how many issues? Huh!!! Mostly, Friday's will be full of fun and frolic and this time it was full of work.

Today is a great day to be remembered for the reason that it was my favorite lead Mr.Ramanan's last day in our organization. Just a great person he has been. He had taught me a number of technical stuffs and I myself got confidence in developing applications only because of him. Though I had not spent much time with him, he has always been an inspiration for me. For everyone of us, someone would induce the spark within ourselves. I would gladly say it's Ramanan in my case. When it comes to workplace, everyone peeps in, everyone will look for a better opportunity and peep out. Though it is quite natural, somewhere my heart cries for missing such a wonderful person in my workplace. This post is a dedication to you sir!!!
