It was an unforgettable journey to work yesterday. I usually go by bike to my workplace but yesterday (Why I don't know..) changed my mind and decided myself to go by bus. It was already late and I boarded 576 Volvo and manged to get a seat. Bus was about to start and to my surprise, Chips came in. Oh oh! All the seats are occupied and she was standing (pity!). I started feeling restless (felt like offering my seat to her). Oh God! My legs are paining. Soon in the next stop, the person next to me got down and yeah CHIPS occupied that seat (Ah! My goodness).
Quickly decided to start up a conversation (Oh sh**! How do I start???).
The conversation between 3 of us (Me,Chips and my mind voice) started by then..
Ch: Hey! you work in Mphasis right?
Mind Voice: Adi paavi.. unaku theriyadhaa..
Me: Yes. So How are you?
ch: Hmm.. So which project?
Me: CCC and you work for GGG right?
Ch: Oh yes. How come you know it?
MV: Hayio..
Me: I knew Mr.X working in your project and so...
Me: By the way, What's your name?
Ch: Am *** (With a cute smile ) and you?
MV: OMG! Sema smile da macha!!
Me: Nice name. Am Ravi.. Do you know Tamil?
MV: Yenda yennn???
Ch: Hmm yes.. Which college?
MV: Man, the bus is in Guindy. Dont put mokka. Ok! Control.
Me: Sa.. You? are you a Keralite?
Ch: Aamam.. Kerala Brahmin. (Girls R Girlz.. They always answer only the last question).
MV: Ada apadiyaa?? Paravala, this girl is candid.
Me: hmm good..
Ch: So can I have your number?
Me: Sure. Its 9**********. Yours?
Ch: Wait. I will give you a miss call..
MV: Scene podra de.. Yen sonna korajaa poiduva..
Ch: Save my number.
Mv: Oh My God! Thanks a lot.
Me: Started typing.. C H I P S.
Ch: (She forcibly took my mobile and noticed the name) Enna dhu Chips ah? why why?
Me: It's your nickname.
Ch: A Weird Look!!!!!!! What? Who kept it?
Me: My friends..
Ch: Ah! everyone knows me ah???
MV: yooo.... kittaka vandhutom..
Me: Actuall....
All of a sudden, my Mom calls me, "dei it's already 7.55 AM.. Enna kanavaa?"
Me: ERrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!

A Good Day @ Work
Dear bloggers, it is a great start of the month. Had a very awesome morning. I say this because its the salary day as usual and this time I have got something extra. Also, they have calculated and have given me so called an interest amount. On the work front, it was a hectic day which made me sit in my chair for almost 11 hours. Oh! how many issues? Huh!!! Mostly, Friday's will be full of fun and frolic and this time it was full of work.
Today is a great day to be remembered for the reason that it was my favorite lead Mr.Ramanan's last day in our organization. Just a great person he has been. He had taught me a number of technical stuffs and I myself got confidence in developing applications only because of him. Though I had not spent much time with him, he has always been an inspiration for me. For everyone of us, someone would induce the spark within ourselves. I would gladly say it's Ramanan in my case. When it comes to workplace, everyone peeps in, everyone will look for a better opportunity and peep out. Though it is quite natural, somewhere my heart cries for missing such a wonderful person in my workplace. This post is a dedication to you sir!!!
Keep in touch :) All the very best in watev@ U do!!!

A Memorable Day!
Today, am so glad that I went into the EDS data center server management room. It was a kind of different experience for me and I was happy to learn something out of it. At the very entrance, I felt it so cold and those two hours, I felt as if I am living in a state of 2 degrees. Ah! How many devices properly stacked and a hell lot of connecting cables, CPU boards, PCB's, chips and so on. Never had I thought that data centers would be planned and maintained in such a neat manner. I was asked to take the backup of our project applications as there was some server activity lined up. I learnt a lot from the techie guys maintaining the server and it was very different from the usual work schedule. Just a memorable day indeed!

Define Your Goals Effectively
Goals are precise and measurable objectives with exact time frames and targets. Goals are short-term steps toward our long-term vision. Goals are specific points along our journey to higher performance. They could be organization or team improvement objectives such as targets for cycle time, customer satisfaction, error or defect rates, new products or services, costs, or revenues. Personal goals could include targets such as income level or financial position, new home, car or other item, an academic or technical qualification, business we want to start, or position we want to reach.
Clear and powerful goals set priorities. They narrow the wide field of options and choices to those few activities that leverage our limited time and attention. They keep us focused on finding the shortest, most direct route to our destination. That means goals point out where not to go and what not to do as much as where we should go and what we should do. So clear goals lead to faster, clearer decisions, which move us more quickly toward our dreams.
Long-term goal setting has always been vaguely unsatisfying for me. I lean more naturally toward visioning. Part of the reason I am uncomfortable with long-term goal setting is because goals are shallow. Goals define what you want to have, not what you want to become. They are a means, not an end.
Another reason goal setting has been less satisfying is because I've never been very good at it. Most of the time frames on my projections, forecasts, and predictions are wrong. I suppose I should ask for a refund on my cloudy crystal ball. But through persistence and staying true to my course, I've eventually reached and then reset many of my visions. I've generally got to where I wanted to go and became the person I wanted to become. But it was always through a different route than I first expected to take. I guess that's called learning.
So there's the paradox of goals. I believe in personal, team, and organization goal setting. I continue to set goals. And I continue to help leaders set goals and objectives for themselves, their teams, and their organization. Goals are targets that help us immensely in moving from a general vision to a specific set of priorities and actions.

Acendas IT
Last weekend I went Acendas IT Park with my schoolmates. I have never been there before. We went there just to spend time and by the way to dine. But to my surprise, we are asked to show the photocopy of one of the valid photo ID card. I liked the way they ensure security check and it was a good measure that no strangers could enter the building. One of my friends had eventually forgot to bring his driving license and so we thought that we should leave the spot. When inquired with security officials, it was told that if we submit any original ID card, five persons could go in. So we guys went in and had a good time. It was simply a sweet evening that day.

Safe Clothing
Let me try a different kind of post over here. Are you the one who ogle all those girls wherever you pass by? Have you ever seen those pregnant ladies with tight clothes often? I wonder why do they wear tight fits while good maternity clothes are available. When I break out at work, I tend to see such ladies who feel a bit uneasy to walk because of their tight clothing. There are good loose fits for them and they can readily wear it and could feel comfortable. The reason I say this is that it will be more comfortable for that baby too. At the end of the day, the baby should be born with all prosperity and good health. Though I don't have more knowledge on this, at the very look of them, It makes me think that they are into trouble.
Recently, my elder sis delivered a baby boy and he is looking so cute and when I saw him the first day, I was scared to touch his skin as it was very soft and he was wheatish in color. My dad and mom provided my sis with all the maternity clothes wants for the past nine months right from the proper clothing. So friends, take care.

Office Chairs
An average American office worker probably spends over 80,000 hours sitting in an office chair over the course of their career. That's bad news for all of the cubicle warriors out there. In addition to the fact that prolonged periods of sitting can aggravate neck and back problems, recent research analyzing obesity, heart disease, and diabetes suggests that the act of sitting shuts down the circulation of a fat-absorbing enzyme called lipase which can inhibit the body's ability to process fat and cholesterol. Experts suggest taking frequent breaks from sitting to counteract the negative effects of sitting for long periods of time. But the reality is that most of us will continue to spend a lot of time sitting at work, so we should at least do it properly. I am really fed up with the chair that I am provided at work. I generally prefer Big And Tall Office Chairs.
There are a number of steps that a person can take to sit in a more healthy way. The top of the computer monitor should be at or below eye level to ensure that the neck is in a natural position, free of any strain or stretching. The monitor and keyboard should be centered in front of the person at the workspace. A negative tilt keyboard or wrist rest can be beneficial in reducing wrist and hand strain from typing. Keeping wrists flat and straight is important, because when wrists are angled upwards to type, it puts additional pressure on those muscles. Keeping arms and elbows close to the body can also help reduce strain. Use a better chair buddies.

Server Configuration
Hi friends, as I was quite busy with work, I had no time to update ma blog. The issue was all about configuring a new server for our applications. Ah! It made me stay day and night at my desk. Since the applications are hosted over the internet, the server is heavily loaded and the applications are turning off now and then. As a result, 2 of the 14 applications are down everyday. So my manager thought of going in for a new dedicated server for some 5 major applications. The IIS configuration took a hell lot of my time. Similarly, installed VS 2008 (i.e) the .net team suite and then with the SQL server 2005. During the process, the credentials were wrongly given and we as a team did the SQL installation again. Work apart, enjoyed the days with team mates and felt like night shifts will do good than working on day shifts. So what's up with you guys? What's going on around? post me with updates. To be candid, I gained more knowledge on servers and other related stuffs. Though it was vellicating, it was good to work as a team thereby doing all the crazy pranks possible. Enjoyed a lot. Thanks a lot team. Oh God, server should work fine with no issues. Hoping for the best.

How to be a manager?
Nowadays, the need for good managers is intensifying. With flatter organizations and self-directed teams becoming common, with personal computers and networks making information available to more people more quickly, the need for managers seem to be vanishing. On the other end, the need for good managers, people who can manage themselves and others in a high stress environment, is increasing. I believe anyone can be a good manager. It is as much skill as it is the inherent ability one possess as much science as art.
Following are my views on how a manager should be at work:
Following are my views on how a manager should be at work:
- Should be consistent in his activities, but not rigid.
- Should be dependable on the team members but also be able to change his/her mind.
- Should make decisions, but also accept input from others easily.
- Should be a little crazy. Should think out-of-the box.
- Should give innovative ideas and should strive towards achieving it. If it fails, he must admit the mistake.
- Should Plan and regularize the work effectively.
- Should be in a position to change the derived plans and act quickly.
- Above all, he should see the given information as a tool and not as power to be hoarded.

An Enjoyable Day!
Hi Friends, hope you all had a good day at work. I feel glad that I have completed the work that was assigned to me. It was an existing module and I was asked to change the logic. I never thought the out would be so perfect. My manager appreciated me. Also my joy doubled I met my friend at cafeteria after a long time. Had a nice chat with him for almost an hour in the evening. He started talking about the huge collections of Future Fins that are available, As the topic seemed new to me, I was completely engrossed in it. It is always very sweet of him. He is very jocular and witty to such an extent that he will make fun every moment. Though we work for the same organization, we couldn't meet each other often because of the irregularly changing shift timings. Such a nice person who is kid at heart and do anything for his close friends. Hey dude, none can ever be so good to me man. I feel really happy about our friendship and hope we will be friends for life. As per your wish, order and purchase a fin and a surfboard soon man. Let us try to meet often. Try to make it a point. My friends are always great.

Social Work Exam
My dear bloggies, today seemed to be very good for me. Had much of work and I really enjoyed coding my screen. I was on leave for the past 4 days and so I was forced to complete my coding part by today. Meanwhile we guys are asked to set goals for the current year that needs to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter. I have set it as usual (i.e) to assure on time delivery of applications, to be collaborative with the team and blah blah.. As a part of my goal last year, I took up MCTS certification examination in order to be technically fit. This time, i have promised to take up some social work exam. I just need some materials to prepare for the same. I am trying to take up some multiple choice questions in order to be articulate and precise on what the social environment is all about. Am mainly focusing on ASWB exam. In general, social Work is such a broad field and it is very difficult to know what materials to focus on. I hope these guides will help me out in a lot better way and make my study much more easier. Just check out. This guide has a plenty of information.

Life @ work
Hi friends, work goes on cool nowadays as we were asked to minimize the number of change requests. In a candid manner, I would like to say that there is not much of work for us to do. It seems better but technically we are moving downwards. I say this because when there is a development activity, we learn a lot ourselves. As far as I am concerned, I would implement those concepts which I know, will take the help of my seniors, surf the web and it will be very challenging to code. I myself will feel as if I have achieved something when I successfully implement a new concept. For me, everyday is a lesson at work.
On the other side, it is just a mere time pass at work. We used to have a cheap city breaks for about 20 min for coffee and our lunch goes for a maximum of 70 min. But nowadays, we sit in cafeteria for long hours and thereby chit chat the day to day happenings in & around. It will be full of fun and looti. Added advantage is that we can go to office anytime and can come out as we wish. Having studied in a very strict college, workplace seems to be a heaven for me. Life is quite enjoyable @ work.
