The Artificial Intelligence

Artificial intelligence in the future will churn out machines and computers, which are much more sophisticated than the ones that we have today. For example, the speech recognition systems that we see today, will become more sophisticated and it is expected that they will reach the human performance levels in the future. It is also believed that they will be able to communicate with human beings, using both text and voice, in unstructured English in the coming few years. However, will artificial intelligence be able to create machines that are self-aware and even more intelligent than human beings - is a question that nobody has an answer to. Also, even if this is possible, how much time it is going to take, cannot be predicted at present.

It is expected that in the future, such machines will be developed having basic common sense, similar to human beings, although pertaining to specific areas only. It is also expected that the human mind functions, such as learning by experience, learning by rehearsal, cognition and perception will also be performed by future intelligent machines. In fact, research and experiments are being conducted to recreate the human brain. CCortex , a project by Artificial Development Inc., California, and Swiss government's IBM sponsored Blue Brain Project, are two main ventures, whose goal is to simulate the human brain. Whether this brain will have human consciousness incorporated in it - there is still no answer for that. Read more on artificial intelligence and the future of man.

It is expected that the robots in future, will take on everybody's work. Whether it is office work or the work at home, robots will accomplish it even more faster and efficiently than human beings. So if somebody's falling ill, they can obtain a robot nurse who will give periodic medicines to them. How much care, concern and empathy the robot nurse will have towards the patient is anybody's guess. Thus, artificial intelligence is still in its infancy, and artificial intelligence's future depends upon the capability of the scientists to crack the puzzle of the human mind. Will they be able to solve "the problem of the mind" and incorporate all the human, mental, emotional qualities in the machines? Let us Wait for the future!

Horoscopes For October 2010

CANCER:

The 7th brings new energy for home improvements, but it is not the best month for major changes. Focus on fixing problems rather than redesigning. Career and family projects bear fruit around the 22nd. More opportunities to enjoy recreation and creative pastimes emerge this month. You'll also attract at least two admirers, especially in the first week of the month. Old flames have a way of reappearing in October, although complications are likely. Review the past but also aim to put it behind you. Work is mostly happy and creative now.

LEO:

The month ahead is a busy one, with much emphasis on communications, learning, and family interactions. Making a fresh start with a neighbor or sibling is possible this month. Tensions are possible around the home, however, especially if you are coming across as too bossy in your attempts to take charge. Channel your energy into constructive work around the house, particularly independent tasks. Financial backing is more likely to come now for home improvement endeavors. There are plenty of errands to run and much paper work to handle.

VIRGO:

You are especially concerned with your finances this month. It is an excellent period for reviewing expenses and making budgets. While you could feel a pinch, this only prompts you to take charge of your practical affairs. News of a higher-paying job or pay increase is quite possible in October. A partner's income will be of special interest around the 22nd. Your mind is very busy with ideas this month and you have extra energy for challenging mental tasks. However, fellow students or acquaintances may not be very helpful right now.

Conversations Make a Difference

Today, we find ourselves drowning in words, radio talk shows; television talk shows; magazine, television and radio interviews by and with the hosts of radio and television talk shows; robocalls from political candidates and their opponents; tape-looped commercials at the grocery store checkout line; spam emails; junk faxes; blogs, blogs about blogs, and blogs about blogs about blogs. Yet, amid this surfeit of words, we find ourselves starved for real conversation, for those ineffable moments when we connect with another to discover a heart open and a mind ablaze.

We long to learn more about conversation. what it is, what it was, and what it should be. Unfortunately, this book doesn't tell us any such thing. Mr. Miller merely presents us with an undigested agglomeration of facts and quotations, shying away from the historian's necessary intellectual task of marshaling those facts into a compelling case for one side or the other. And it doesn't help that he is a numbingly pedantic writer: "One cannot be a good conversationalist if one lacks a sense of humor," Miller writes, in a proclamation that cries out for a gloss of hot pink highlighter. "Equally important is being a good listener." Particularly annoying is his persistent habit of making a statement, then backing it up with a quotation that says precisely the same thing. "If we think someone finds us boring, we dislike that person. As La Rochefoucauld says: 'We often forgive those who bore us, but we cannot forgive those who find us boring.'

Horoscopes ~ October 2010

Here are some Quickies:

ARIES:

Relationships make headlines for you this month. Strong energy for relating is with you now, although some complications are likely as well. You may be rethinking your needs or those of a partner and dealing with debts from the past. Take your time and don't push matters. Go over your finances carefully, get counsel if needed, and avoid disputes over money. Fortunately, your negotiation skills are at their best and you'll receive helpful and practical advice, especially around the 19-20. Going it alone is not necessary now.

TAURUS:

Physical health improves this month and work matters become busier and clearer. Relationships are tricky, however. Problems that have been brewing with a partner have their way of demanding your attention. While you should certainly discuss things through, major decision making is best put on hold. You or a partner need more time and shouldn't be pushed into a corner. New relationships started in October can begin with gusto, but then quickly become complicated. Pour your energy into productive paths. Get started on a new health and fitness routine.

GEMINI:

Complications on the work front are very possible this month. Projects may stall or could be in need of review. Try your best to work independently and to set your own pace on the job because team work can be challenging now. Overall, however, you are in a playful and demonstrative mood. Love relationships are not as straightforward as you'd like, but as long as you avoid heady discussions, you'll be fine. Others are finding you charming but could be hesitant just for now. A friend requires your support around the 22nd.

A TRUE FRIEND

We all have friends. A lot gets talked about friendships. Everyone wants a true friend, and many of us believe that we have a friend who can be called a true friend. What kind of relations do friends share? When can we call a friend a true friend, and when can our friends take us as their true friend. After a romantic relationship, friendships are the most important relationships we can have. Though all of us have family and distant family, most of us rely on friends for advice, comfort and inspiration. How do we define a relation that can be called as one of true friendship?

The very first sign of a very good friend, not necessarily a true friend is that we are not worried about courtesies. You will call your friend at any hour and talk without any thought of time in your mind. Similarly, whenever you need support, you will call a very good friend and ask him/her to help you out. They expect the same from you. Another important trait of such relations is that we are not much worried about exposing ourselves. We speak about everything in our mind without worrying about what our friends will think. We are sure that they will take our talk in the spirit it was made.

A true friend is a little more than a very good friend. A true friend will support you even if it hurts his/her own interest. A true friend will understand your motives and needs and will be with you without any analysis or criticism. A true friend will come forward to help without any request and be with us in need without showing it or expecting anything in return. With a true friend, you can be sure that you will get help to the extent possible by him/her. Nothing will remain unturned. A mother is a true friend of her children. If we share such relations with an adult we can say that we are true friends.

A true friend makes no excuses of having work or appointments or anything but will be with you whenever you need him/her. In your hour of desperation, a true friend will support you even if the whole world opposes you. A true friend is not an opportunist. A true friend means to have someone who is like mother, as I said earlier. Instead of having hundreds of good friends, if you have a true friend, treat yourself lucky. If you can also become a true friend of someone, you will be blessed, because it is much easier for all of us to expect but very difficult to give. Be a true friend!

Neural Networks

The field of neural networks is wide, and the technological advances have made our lives simple. In my opinion, the neural network work field is abandoned by the world. It’s an area that only scientist, engineers and some other enthusiast take into account. During my student years, I had this fascination for this artificial intelligence division. In one occasion, I had to develop a project in which the work environment was crucial. The project consisted on a small car capable of recognize a determined type of terrain for crop development.

I was aware about what to do. however, something important was missing. A neural system needs to be properly trained. My next task was to develop software to train and design the neural network. In reality, this was not necessary, since there is a lot of functional neural network software in the market. To finish my Project, I had to buy software to develop and design the neural network of my car brain. At the end of the story, my project was a complete success. It was acquired by a local company dedicated to sell crop tools. Now, this device is manufactured as a crop inspection robot. Learning to design a neural network is crucial for our projects that require artificial intelligence technology. Therefore, I suggest acquiring all the equipment needed as books and software because in some way they make our life easy.

Valuable Presentations

The phenomenon of the ready-made and its usage as an art object is proximal to the abandonment of the art craft. If painting signifies art, skill and craftsmanship, then, with the onset of industrialism, craftsmanship was rendered useless, and thereby, so was painting. Nevertheless, new technical achievements have continued to emerge from within the realm of painting. Today, the international art scene is moving dramatically in a new direction. When it comes to participation in large international exhibitions, the growing tendency has been to rely on the use of new technologies and new and serious obstacles have been placed in front of artists coming from the East. The possible frustration of such artists is derived from the usage of objects that are completely industrially produced or even ordered to be produced. In the case of exhibiting ready-made objects, the painter has been replaced by a machine. This proves that the motivation for ready-made objects was closely related to production and fabrication, although, Marcel Duchamp, for one, did not have in mind any obsession or glorification of the perfection and beauty of the ready-made "When I discovered the ready-made I thought to discourage aesthetics.

Decorate your Kitchen

Kitchen is the most used area in my house especially when we have a family member who loves to cook. This room is also a favorite amongst house owners for renovation. Who wouldn’t want to have a kitchen that looks nice and is also well equipped for your cooking? One of the simplest thing that you can do is to change the kitchen counter-top. If you have had that kitchen counter-top for years then it’s time for an upgrade. You can search for beautiful kitchen counter-top that are perfect for your budget. Try going to your local stores for some window shopping. It is important that you find your kitchen counter-top complementary to the theme that you have for your kitchen.

Laminate Floor can also make your kitchen look good. Next in line are your kitchen cabinets. Make it a point to have lovely cabinets since they are usually the first thing that people notice. Ask your trusted contractor about which materials are best for your kitchen cabinets. You can choose the designs that you want and then show them to your contractor. Next, replace your lighting and plumbing fixtures. Make sure that you change the kitchen sink and the faucet too. It is important that you pick lighting fixtures that will be wonderful with the rest of your kitchen stuff. Adding some floor lamps and pin lights around the kitchen will prove to be wonderful for the aesthetics of the kitchen. You can also add a few framed pictures that goes with your theme on your kitchen walls.

PIVOT TABLE ~ SQL SERVER

What is a Pivot Table ?

A pivot table is a frequently used method of summarizing and displaying especially report data by means of grouping and aggregating values. Pivot tables are easily created by office users using Microsoft Excel or MS Access.
Since pivot table enables report builders and BI (Business Intelligence) specialists empower their presentation of reports and increase the visibility and unserstandability of mined data, pivot tables are common and preferred widely. Pivot tables display data in tabular form. The pivot table formatting is not different than a tabular report formatting.

But the table columns are formed by the report data itself. I mean as a pivot table example, your report creator can build a report with years and months in the left side of the table, the main product lines are displayed as columns, and total sales of each product line in the related year and month is displayed in the cell content.

Actually you can easily answer what is pivot table question, if you have build OLAP reports or if you are familiar with OLAP reporting. Pivot Table in sql grants the ability to display data in custom aggregations just like OLAP reports in SQL Server. Simply pivot tables can be thought of transforming a table with its data into another table format. Just as building a sales report in months and product lines from Sales Orders table.

The Commonwealth Games

The Commonwealth Games is a multinational, multi-sport event which features competitions involving thousands of elite athletes from members of the Commonwealth of Nations. Organized every four years, they are the third-largest multi-sport event in the world, after the Summer Olympic Games and the Asian Games.

As well as many Olympic sports, the Games also include some sports that are played mainly in Commonwealth countries, such as lawn bowls, rugby sevens and netball. The Games are overseen by the Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF), which also controls the sporting program and selects the host cities. The host city is selected from across the Commonwealth, with eighteen cities in seven countries having hosted it.

The event was first held in 1930 under the title of the British Empire Games. The event was renamed as the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in 1954, the British Commonwealth Games in 1970, and gained its current title in 1978. Only six teams have attended every Commonwealth Games: Australia, Canada, England, New Zealand, Scotland and Wales. Australia has been the highest scoring team for ten games, England for seven and Canada for one.

There are currently 54 members of the Commonwealth of Nations, and 71 teams participate in the Games. The four Home Nations of the United Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland – send separate teams to the Commonwealth Games, and individual teams are also sent from the British Crown dependencies of Guernsey, Jersey and the Isle of Man (unlike at the Olympic Games, where the combined "Great Britain" team represents all four home nations and the Crown dependencies). Many of the British overseas territories also send their own teams. The Australian external territory of Norfolk Island also sends its own team, as do the Cook Islands and Niue, two states in free association with New Zealand. It has been reported that Tokelau, another dependency of New Zealand will be sending a team to the 2010 Games in Delhi, India.

Make Your Bathroom!

Living is fantastic! Be sure that the place you live completely satisfies you in every aspect. For me, even the bathroom should be properly planned and should be clean and neat every time. Bathroom towel bars are often considered accessories, but they are actually functional as well as decorative. They are especially useful for small bathrooms because they provide convenient storage without taking up any floor space. This helps reduce clutter and keep your bathroom organized. Towel bars can even prevent mold and mildew because they help towels dry faster, reducing moisture levels in the bathroom. Always look for the best of bathroom vanities for your bedroom. A towel bar can accent an otherwise bare wall, or complement your paint color or tile design. There are different styles and sizes available, so you’re sure to find one that fits your bathroom decor. Here are some of your options when buying towel bars.

Also the showers are a large investment and you need to do it properly. You can make yourself a better idea of what you need to do by taking some tours on show-rooms or model homes etc. Next is to determine the size. Having a spacious shower is the best part. Make sure that you have enough space for two. You can also add a bench. Now you have to decide if you want one or two shower heads. There’s a wide variety of them on the market. Also be careful on choosing the metal that better fits your bathroom. Decide on the style of the shower but also be careful on the price. Consider the shower door or curtain. You can make showering even more luxurious by adding shelving, caddies, music, lighting, benches, ventilation. Be green and choose appliances that you help you save water. The internet is the best source. Find an expert that is willing to give his advice.

PISCES Horoscope ~ September 2010

Jupiter, the good fortune planet, had abandoned you temporarily in June, but he’ll be back in Pisces as of September 9. No one will be happier than you to hear this! Jupiter will stay at your side until January 22, 2011, lighting the path to good fortune and radiant health. You are the celestial favorite again, and as such, will have enormous protection. Start thinking of a risk you’d like to take, or a seed you’d like to plant.

Relationships are never easy, but this month you may have a chance to mend a fence or make a new commitment with someone who has gained your trust. The new moon due September 8 will help you create stronger, closer, and more stable bonds with someone important to you, either personally or professionally. Keep in mind, though, that Mercury will be retrograde in your relationship sector until September 12. Don’t make any decisions or agreements that will be etched in stone until after this date.

Still, not all relationships this month will be sweetness and light – in fact, one might prove to be downright troublesome. Uranus in Pisces will go on a rampage against the Sun on September 21, a day you will likely have your hands full with a difficult person. Try not to schedule a big talk or meeting for this day, for few if any things will go right!

In a month when the jarring days will come side-by-side the sterling ways, you may feel buffeted by the universe, not knowing what to expect from one day to the next.

Rest easy, though, for a day when everything should go right will be September 18, thanks to Uranus, planet of surprise, which will be conjunct Jupiter, planet of good fortune – both are in Pisces. It’s likely to be your best day of the month, and one of your favorites of the year, and whatever occurs will come straight out of the blue! You may start to see how special this day will be as early as September 16 or 17.

Financially, money has been coming in at a steady pace, but alas, has been going out just as fast. This trend continues now, too. You’ll get good news about finances on the September 23 full moon because Jupiter will be close. However, Saturn will oppose that moon, and with his hand outstretched he will seem to say, “Isn’t that money owed to someone? Just hand it over please.” There seems no way to avoid paying up, for one week later, by September 30 when Saturn will meet with the Sun, your payment will be due. Knowing this, you may be able to start to prepare for this obligation early in the month. Money won’t be as big a focus after this month is over. As a matter of fact, financial tensions will decline somewhat after Mars leaves Libra and your house of credit on September 14.

On a happier note, it looks like you have a major trip coming up in October – start buying guidebooks and musing about your options now. One good day to browse a bookstore would be on September 9 when you’ll be inspired with ideas. (Wait to book things until AFTER September 12).

Romantically, your best, most romantic day will come early, on Saturday, September 4, when Venus will dance with Neptune across an azure sky studded with diamonds. It’s due to be a magical night! With Pluto going direct on September 14, you’ll find friends to be more available, and, bless their hearts, quite caring about looking after you!

Your best romantic evening will occur on September 4, thanks to Venus in lovely sync with Neptune. Also, Travel is coming soon. So start dreaming with a purpose on September 9. Without dreams, there is no chance for a poetic reality later. Cheer up – your high expenses will simmer down quite a bit after Mars leaves your financial sector September 14. While you will still have to watch financial flow, you won’t have such a hard time.

Friends will be more helpful to you after Pluto turns direct on September 14. Mars in Scorpio after September 14 (until October 28) will be a wonderful boost of support and energy. Travel, study, and projects in the media all will dazzle for you.

Your luckiest day of the month – and possibly of the year – will be when Jupiter (luck) combines forces with Uranus (surprise) on September 18. This is a day when even the most extreme wishes can come true! You may have to deal with a difficult partner on September 21, when the Sun opposes Uranus. Money comes in (thanks to Jupiter) and goes out, too (blame Saturn). Be glad you will have the money to cover bills. Money will delight you at the full moon, September 23, but seems to have been spoken for the minute it arrives. A major financial obligation seems hard to pay but will be due September 30.

Best days for love: September 3, 4, 11-12, 18-19, and 26.

Make a Difference (Part 2)

Along with interaction, there are other ways you can start to contribute. Go just a little bit further each day by helping out around the office. Maybe one day you can clean the microwave dish in the break room, or refill the coffee pot even if you weren't the one to take the last cup of coffee. It doesn't take much or long to help out in other areas, and you'll also be surprised at how it can even help you take your mind off of work if you're stuck with a difficult problem. It also make your workplace just that much better.

Your thoughtfulness doesn't take much, and you can take it a little bit further and earn recognition in the process. Bring a bowl of candy to the next meeting or volunteer to help out with a company event. The goal is to remain fairly low-key and not to draw too much attention to yourself. Remember to be yourself and do what comes naturally to you. If there's something you want to change about your workplace, why not start with making some change yourself and leading by example? There's no matter way to make a difference and you'll quickly see how it affects others as they start to do the same.

In the end, you should remember that it's easy to fall into the trap that work is something that you put the bare minimum in and then give up, especially on a bad day. Rather, you can make a difference just by changing your thinking and attitude. Examine the life you're living at work and ask yourself if it's what you truly like, or if there is something you can change to make it better. Once you start to feel satisfied at work, you'll feel more in control of your surroundings and as if your efforts are truly making a difference within the company.

Thought Provoking!

Every thought that comes in is a prayer and every prayer will definitely be answered. So, begin to watch your thoughts. Thoughts create certain vibrations in & around us thereby reaching the Omnipresent naturally. Each prayer is answered as soon as it is told. The effort that we do need to make, however, is in ensuring that all our thoughts are positive so that our prayers do not keep canceling others efforts. Everything that we think about receives energy through our thought. When we accept our power, we also learn to send our power packets to the all that gives us happiness. We stop sending them to those that upset us because we don’t want to energize them and increase their role in our lives. So all you have to do is to believe in your power to create your life afresh and send the right power packets out to the universe. So people, have good thoughts in your mind and thereby lead a better life. Happy Life!

Make a Difference (Part 1)

Making a difference in the world doesn't actually have to be committing to volunteering and donating within your community. As most of us are swept up in our hectic lives, it seems more reasonable to focus our efforts on where we spend our time - making a difference in our workplace. This doesn't necessarily mean you have to start working hard or longer, rather, commit to small changes that are made by being aware of your environment and how your presence change things. Sometimes, these smaller efforts are the best way to have an impact or your work world.

Let's start with the idea that you don't have to be in the service industry to reap the benefit of being courteous and polite. So often we overlook our attitudes as we are swept away in our workload, and we forget that cheer and manners aren't just something that should be put off. Everyone is cheered by a little honest friendliness. The trick is not to strain yourself, as people are turned off by false politeness even if they don't consciously register it. If it isn't easy for you, start small with a little extra eye contact when thanking someone for a favor, and move forward from there. Also remember its okay to break yourself from your work every once in a while to take the time to connect with your fellow employees, even if it's just a quick wave and a brief chat. More importantly, approach the situation openly, sometime work is a good topic if they are in a good mood, but other times it's just nice to pull away to a topic that doesn't involve stress.
