KO Movie Review

The story starts at Dinanjali, a newspaper office where Ashwin (Jeeva), is a photographer while Renu (Karthika) and Saraswathi (Piyaa) are seen as journalists working woth the same newspaper. All three of them try to break the news and stand up on their toes for all getting the latest happenings news. Ashwin’s lens is creative and he captures all well.

Moving forward the next character Vasanth (Ajmal) gets introduced and he is an engineer. Though is an engineer his aim is to become a politician and aspires to change the society. Vasanth plans to contest in the upcoming elections. Ashwin who has good political contacts he makes his friend Ajmal a politician for a good cause. But after turning as a politician Vasanth turns into a corrupted politician like all other politicians and kicks out Ashwin from his camp. Yogi (Prakash Raj) is the Chief Minister of that political party. Vasanth joins his hands with Yogi and forgets to do good for the society. During some unexpected mishap Saro gets killed in a bomb blast. Bu seeing all these Ashwin plans to bring down Vasanth by using the same political contacts. But Vasanth who is annoyed with the chain reactions plans to take revenge on Ashwin. The rest of the story forms the interesting plans of Jeeva with a twist in the story.

Jeeva stands out as Ashwin and he looked cool stylish, flawless and urbane in his character. Wow! His dialogue delivery and body language are outstanding and brilliant. While performing action and serious scenes he perfectly transformed himself well and brought right dynamism. Karthika has made her Kollywood debut with KO and has performed her role with ease and élan. She looked beautiful and especially in songs both Jeeva and Karthika looked as a perfect pair. No doubt Karthika will soon make herself to the top list of actresses. Piaa Bajpai is good in the role of journo and is the right fit. Thanks to director KV Anand for choosing her. Piaa looked simple and stylish.

Ajmal as Vasanth has given equal performance to that of Jeeva. He excelled in his role and proved his mettle once again with KO. He comes up with victory with this film. Watch out for Prakash Raj’s outstanding performance and one can’t blink his eyes while he is on screens. He is back after a long time with a meaty role and undoubtedly he rocked in his role. Especially during counter sequences with Jeeva deserve great ovation. Waiting for many movies from you Prakash Ji.

Aadukalam Movie Review

Vetrimaran is a man of commendable commitment towards his subject. Watching Aadukalam reminded us of the saying, read somewhere, that the genius of an oeuvre is measured by the breadth of its message. Aadukalam is a sprawling, multilayered drama that oozes of earthy inventiveness native only to the region Vetrimaran chooses for his story. He employs rooster fight, to bring the movie its narrative strength and builds the movie further, slowly departing from the concept and delving into the depth of the many characters he fleshes out with his mighty sword of a pen.

Reading between the movie’s finely crafted lines, the beautifully etched out message becomes visible. The roosters fight and die for the sake of human beings and their bloated egos (or to bloat their egos further), all the while without knowing who they are dying for. In the same manner, when ego blinds human beings they know very little of what they do. Or the consequences their actions will bring about.

Dhanush and Kishore are the unswerving aides to Pettaikaarar (a role done to marvelous perfection by Jayabalan despite a borrowed voice; more about that later), whose business is to rear roosters for fights. He rules the fights, commanding impressive success rates. Rathinam, the cop, is his rival in the fights. As the movie revolves around these characters and their lives, Dhanush almost accidentally wins a fight against Rathinam’s gang, although Jayabalan advises him against fighting for fear of losing. Dhanush goes on to win a huge cash prize, much to the chagrin of Jayabalan’s clandestine ego.

This is where the movie moves away from the rooster fight scenario and thickens into a delicious plot of twists and turns of unpredicted events, setting its tone. A brilliantly written screenplay and immaculate research about the rooster fight in detail has helped Vetrimaran execute the movie perfectly. Another aspect that shows Vetrimaran’s painstaking effort is the casting. For instance, the roles of Dhanush, Jayabalan, Kishore and Tapasee could just not have been performed by anyone else to the same effect. It is Vetrimaran’s success even to bring us to think so.

It wouldn’t be a cliché to say that Aadukalam is another landmark in Dhanush’s career. He suffuses life into the Karuppu character and never once during the course of the entire movie does the actor Dhanush peeps out of the character Karuppu even furtively. That is the success of the character, and the actor. Next in line is the noted Sri Lankan Tamil poet Jayabalan, who is nothing sort of a revelation. He underplays the emotions subtly and gives you the goosebumps quite often. Although it was Radharavi’s voice his character uses, it never comes across jarringly. Tapasee couldn’t have had a better debut in Tamil. As an Anglo Indian girl, she proves that she can emote and adapt to the prerequisites of her character. But then that could be Vetrimaran’s ability to bring her to that level of precision. Kishore is another actor whose role as a brother like figure in Karuppu’s life is unnerving at times.

Faithful representation of romantic sequences between Dhanush and Tapasee are delightful and enable the first half to fly in a jiffy. G V Prakash proves that he has come of age with his unsettling background score and the selection of singers for the songs ‘Ayyayyo’ and ‘Yathe Yathe’.

Everything about the movie is inventive, except for the tacky rooster fight sequences in graphics that Vetrimaran could not pull off with real roosters owing to the limitations drawn by the Animal Welfare Board. Also, the movie becomes a little too self-indulgent during the first half. Not to mention, it has a very unconventional, non-conclusive climax that is left to the viewer’s discretion. But those downsides are paltry. Aadukalam is a saga and a brilliant study of human emotions portrayed magnificently with the able help of Vetrimaran’s deftly written screenplay.

MYNAA Movie Review

Prabhu Solomon might have not delivered blockbusters, but he holds special mention for his style of handling clichéd script in a different way.  ‘Kokki’ was one such instance with an usual story of an innocuous man taking on baddies followed by ‘Lee’, which revolved around corruption in sports and ‘Laadam’, a different script that didn’t do well for its low-profiled star casts.

Even this time, he hasn’t attempted for an unique story. It’s a well-worn story of childhood love set in village backdrops bounded to opposition from family, society and hurdles faced by the couple, finally with a shockingly repellent climax.  So how different is ‘Mynaa’ from those yesteryear village based love stories?
Let’s take a sneak glimpse into the synopsis followed by a distinct analysis.

Set in backdrops of a hilly village near Theni, the film revolves Suruli (Viddarth) and Myna (Anaka), intimate lovers from their childhood days. He helps her family in the desolated situation and even her mother affectionately addresses him ‘son-in-law’. But as the years pass by, mother decides to get daughter Myna married to another person that deeply turns Suruli more aversive. He is even jailed for his cruel gesture upon her mother and manages to escape on the same night. Sooner, the jail superintendent (Sethu) and police constable (Thambi Ramaiah) are on the pursuit of Suruli, who has escaped. Soon after handcuffing him, Mynaa too travels along with Suruli as they decide to get married after his prison term of 15 days. What unfolds next is a drama of journey with unexpected twists and turns.

ENDHIRAN ~ THE ROBO

The most awaited Tamil film of the decade "Endhiran, the Robo" has released with Rajini thala's resounding punch line "Happy Diwali folks".

An Out N Out SHANKAR'S movie!

Director Shankar comes with an Ento-sci-fi-thriller (Entertaining science fiction) ride and that’s "Endhiran" for you under the Sun Pictures banner produced by Kalanidhi Maran. His trump card is Superstar Rajnikanth along with five assets being World's beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as the heroine, AR Rahman for his expertise, Rathnavelu for cinematography, Variramuthu lyrics and one whole Ace for his team that developed the special effects. The director, called captain of the movie is really a gifted person and has hard work, he can still bring to us his 10 years dream project which is about few years advance from now itself.

Superstar (A.K.A) Chitti 2.0 has given his best. Am sure that Rajnikanth is the man who will never cease to amaze you! Your age doesn’t really matter because you will be in awe of the man! In a movie which shows signs of visual effects riding in the driver’s seat, the Superstar dominates every bit to walk away with appreciation! No favoritism here, you just can’t stop talking about him, once you come out. As a scientist, he plays his part uncharacteristically Rajni without Punch dialogues or fights but as ‘Chitti – the Robot’ you are bound to follow him or even turn an addict. Also, the graphic sequences have mesmerized the viewers. The special effects in the film are so life like that one fan challenged to run a contest to identify the graphics sequences with a million dollar prize money. ARR’s songs which are already a rage sit well on the film, adding to the entertainment quotient. Chiti chiti Robo..

Aish is amazing and truly an epitome of beauty. She forms an important part in the script and hence you will spot her throughout the movie, perhaps for the first time a heroine is receiving considerable importance in the superstar’s movie. The marvelous costumes add to her allure and she’s just majestic in few scenes. She has done a good role throughout. Overall, the Endhiran movie is open to everyone. Please watch chitti as a robot and not as a human or a 60yrs old Rajini. I dont't support the 2nd half of the movie. It was out and out mokkai for the first hour after the interval. Though Santhanam and Karunas have done a small role, the comedy sequences are good.

Vasi, Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeehhhhhhh.................!!!!

Successful Movies Put Me Off

I was wandering around the net to find some of the most successful movies so that I can download and see it. I always have a belief that the trilogies are good to watch. I came across the movie Friday. The movie has a quite good profile. There around 12 to 13 parts of the movie right from 1980 till now. So I believed it will be good to watch and it also comes under my favorite genre “horror”. I downloaded all the parts in a single breath and started watching them. I couldn’t utter any word. All the parts have the same storyline and there was not much thrilling secrets to be revealed either. I got headache seeing the man in the mask. Because I neither get fear nor thrill watching that thing. I don’t know how they managed to run such a disgusting trilogy till now. I think the movie would have been somewhat successful in the box office due to the porn like scenes in almost every part of the movie. It is as if that the movie cannot be taken with those scenes on. So I recommend you people that before watching the movie please check out its IMDB and the response in red tomatoes to avoid headache. Good day!

The GOA

Hi guys, I would like to pen down my reviews about the recently released Tamil movie titled "GOA". Firstly, I would like to thank the director Venkat Prabhu for his wonderful work all over the film. Guess it’s the 3rd continuous blockbuster movie to his crown. I am not here to reveal the story of the film. According to me, Premji as Saami kannu and Sampath as Danie has done a great job when compared to the other two. Jei’s English is beyond words. Coming to the actress side, the girl pairing Premji has performed well and Sneha could have been there for a little longer time. Though I always tend to see Video & Music on Rapidshare, it was a different experience watching the movie at Sathyam Cinemas. I would say that the movie is a good entertainer for all those who really have a good humorous sense. Though there were many unwanted ingredients in the movie, on the whole, everything was good. But I was really disappointed with the songs. Only the theme and the “Goa” song was good and the rest all seemed to be a sort of mokka. The movie was not that good when compared to his previous releases Chennai 600028 and Saroja. Anyways Watch the movie and your comments are awaited.

*My disclosure.
