Friends, it’s been few months into blogging. Though I tend to write one post a month, I definitely know that it’s not up to the mark. Just that I got little busy with my work leaving no time to write up.  The happiest thing is that I have moved into a new project and to a team I wanted. How to avoid STRESS?

Driving a Car!

Buddies, here are some tips to drive your car during rain:

slow down! It takes longer to stop or adjust in wet weather.

Stay toward the middle lanes - water tends to pool in the outside lanes.

Maintain proper following distance (3 Second Rule). This needs to be increased in wet weather.

Drive in the tracks of a car ahead of you.

Don't follow large trucks or buses too closely. The spray created by their large tires reduces your vision. Take care when passing them as well; if you must pass, do so quickly and safely.

Be more alert when driving in wet or slippery conditions. Watch out for brake lights in front of you.

Avoid using your brakes; if possible, take your foot off the accelerator to slow down.
Turn your headlights on even in a light rain, or in gloomy, foggy or overcast conditions. Not only do they help you see the road, but they'll help other drivers see you. If your car has daytime running lights you still should put them on, so vehicles behind you can see you better.
Before it starts to rain, replace old or brittle wipers.

Avoid off-road driving: it's hard to judge the actual depth of puddles and you can easily become stuck.

Never drive beyond the limits of visibility. At night rainy roads become especially treacherous.

The glare of oncoming lights, amplified by the rain on your windscreen, can cause temporary loss of visibility while substantially increasing driver fatigue. In rainy conditions pedestrians, livestock, and wildlife are extremely hard to spot and even harder to avoid.

Never drive through moving water if you can't see the ground through it; your car could be
swept off the road.

When driving through a puddle of uncertain depth, go slow. If it's deeper than the bottom of your doors, turn around and find another route. Deep water can cause serious damage to a modern car's electrical system.

Server Configuration

Hi friends, as I was quite busy with work, I had no time to update ma blog. The issue was all about configuring a new server for our applications. Ah! It made me stay day and night at my desk. Since the applications are hosted over the internet, the server is heavily loaded and the applications are turning off now and then. As a result, 2 of the 14 applications are down everyday. So my manager thought of going in for a new dedicated server for some 5 major applications. The IIS configuration took a hell lot of my time. Similarly, installed VS 2008 (i.e) the .net team suite and then with the SQL server 2005. During the process, the credentials were wrongly given and we as a team did the SQL installation again. Work apart, enjoyed the days with team mates and felt like night shifts will do good than working on day shifts. So what's up with you guys? What's going on around? post me with updates. To be candid, I gained more knowledge on servers and other related stuffs. Though it was vellicating, it was good to work as a team thereby doing all the crazy pranks possible. Enjoyed a lot. Thanks a lot team. Oh God, server should work fine with no issues. Hoping for the best.

How to be a manager?

Nowadays, the need for good managers is intensifying. With flatter organizations and self-directed teams becoming common, with personal computers and networks making information available to more people more quickly, the need for managers seem to be vanishing. On the other end, the need for good managers, people who can manage themselves and others in a high stress environment, is increasing. I believe anyone can be a good manager. It is as much skill as it is the inherent ability one possess as much science as art.

Following are my views on how a manager should be at work:

• Should be consistent in his activities, but not rigid.
• Should be dependable on the team members but also be able to change his/her mind.
• Should make decisions, but also accept input from others easily.
• Should be a little crazy. Should think out-of-the box.
• Should give innovative ideas and should strive towards achieving it. If it fails, he must admit the mistake.
• Should Plan and regularize the work effectively.
• Should be in a position to change the derived plans and act quickly.
• Above all, he should see the given information as a tool and not as power to be hoarded.

An Enjoyable Day!

Hi Friends, hope you all had a good day at work. I feel glad that I have completed the work that was assigned to me. It was an existing module and I was asked to change the logic. I never thought the out would be so perfect. My manager appreciated me. Also my joy doubled I met my friend at cafeteria after a long time. Had a nice chat with him for almost an hour in the evening. He started talking about the huge collections of Future Fins that are available, As the topic seemed new to me, I was completely engrossed in it. It is always very sweet of him. He is very jocular and witty to such an extent that he will make fun every moment. Though we work for the same organization, we couldn't meet each other often because of the irregularly changing shift timings. Such a nice person who is kid at heart and do anything for his close friends. Hey dude, none can ever be so good to me man. I feel really happy about our friendship and hope we will be friends for life. As per your wish, order and purchase a fin and a surfboard soon man. Let us try to meet often. Try to make it a point. My friends are always great.

Social Work Exam

My dear bloggies, today seemed to be very good for me. Had much of work and I really enjoyed coding my screen. I was on leave for the past 4 days and so I was forced to complete my coding part by today. Meanwhile we guys are asked to set goals for the current year that needs to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter. I have set it as usual (i.e) to assure on time delivery of applications, to be collaborative with the team and blah blah.. As a part of my goal last year, I took up MCTS certification examination in order to be technically fit. This time, i have promised to take up some social work exam. I just need some materials to prepare for the same. I am trying to take up some multiple choice questions in order to be articulate and precise on what the social environment is all about. Am mainly focusing on ASWB exam. In general, social Work is such a broad field and it is very difficult to know what materials to focus on. Life @ work

Hi friends, work goes on cool nowadays as we were asked to minimize the number of change requests. In a candid manner, I would like to say that there is not much of work for us to do. It seems better but technically we are moving downwards. I say this because when there is a development activity, we learn a lot ourselves. As far as I am concerned, I would implement those concepts which I know, will take the help of my seniors, surf the web and it will be very challenging to code. I myself will feel as if I have achieved something when I successfully implement a new concept. For me, everyday is a lesson at work.

On the other side, it is just a mere time pass at work. We used to have a cheap city breaks for about 20 min for coffee and our lunch goes for a maximum of 70 min. But nowadays, we sit in cafeteria for long hours and thereby chit chat the day to day happenings in & around. It will be full of fun and looti. Added advantage is that we can go to office anytime and can come out as we wish. Having studied in a very strict college, workplace seems to be a heaven for me. Life is quite enjoyable @ work.
